Description

This baby milestones tracker is a spreadsheet where you can list your baby’s developmental milestones. Like the first time they make eye contact, their first smile and laugh, when they get their first teeth, and other special moments. You can categorize each event by development type, track the day the event occurs so you can know how old they were, and write in any notes or things you want to remember. The milestones worksheet has 5 developmental categories:

  • Language. Examples: Turning to someone who is talking, starting to babble and make "coos", saying "mama" and "dada", understanding their own name, associating other names (like mama/dada) with other people.
  • Cognitive. Examples: making eye contact and following objects with their eyes, looking for objects and people of interest, beginning to use the other senses, object permanence.
  • Emotional and Social. Examples: being more alert and social, smiling, laughing, learning new facial expressions and reacting to other people's facial expressions, fear of strangers and separation anxiety, specific cries in different scenarios.
  • Sensory and Motor. Examples: holding their head up, tummy time, changes in the startle reflex, finding their hands and feet, reaching out to grab objects, rolling over, sitting up, crawling, grabbing and bringing food (and toys) to their mouth.
  • Physical. Examples: changes in weight, height, and other physical measurements.

What developmental milestones should I look for as my infant grows?
The CDC’s website and your pediatrician are great resources for comprehensive examples of milestones at each age. We've also provided a list of useful References and Resources lower on this page.
